Annual Arbor Day Celebration!
The districts Arbor day celebration consists of making contacts with our youth in the public and private school sectors. This year, the conservation district distributed approximately 800 trees to 2nd grade students throughout Marion county. Each student received a southern red oak with the hope that the seedlings will be planted for future generations.
Annual Essay Competition

The district offers an essay contest to students in 5th-8th grades each yearto expand the knowledge and awareness of conservation. The 2014 conservation essay contest topic was DIG Deeper - Mysteries in the soil! Five schools participated, with (25) essay students accepting awards for their prize winning conservation essays.
Fletcher M. Johnson, Sr. Environmental Trail!


The fletcher M. johnson sr. environmental trail was established through a grant from Vulcan materials company and the marion soil and water conservation
district with grant assistance from Pee Dee rc&d to provide the trail for the county. The district established an educational facility, providing foot trails for identifying the native trees, with durable tree identification signs, providing (3) educational kiosks (soil, water and trees), work stations/lunch tables, native shrubs, and a flower garden along the trail.
